Multidisciplinary Center for the Development of Tissue Engineering - Hôpital de l'Enfant-Jésus

The Multidisciplinary Center for the Development of Tissue Engineering is one of the world’s largest laboratories specialized in regenerative medicine, specifically tissue engineering. The building consists of three floors, plus a penthouse, with a total gross area of 4,725 m². Semi-public spaces such as offices and other spaces dedicated to the research center’s users are grouped in the front of the building. Laboratories and other spaces with restricted accessibility are grouped in the back of the building. Spaces located in the basement consist primarily of functions that do not require natural light.

The complexity of this project resided in the programmatic combination of a research facility and a GMP suite. The project consisted of Cellular culture research laboratories; GMP suite (Good Manufacturing Practices) including instrumentation rooms and class 10.000 and class 100.000 clean rooms, also complying with biosafety CL-2 requirements; Biochemistry and analysis laboratories; Vivarium; Cellular culture laboratories and Irradiation Room.
